About Sunstone
Sunstone is a radiant variety of feldspar, most commonly from the plagioclase (oligoclase) or orthoclase family. It is renowned for its warm golden-orange hues and signature glittering effect, known as aventurescence, which is caused by light reflecting off tiny platelets of hematite, goethite, or copper within the stone. These inclusions give Sunstone its characteristic shimmer — often appearing like sunlight captured in mineral form.
With a Mohs hardness of 6 to 6.5, Sunstone is moderately durable and polishes to a glassy lustre. Its colours range from pale champagne and honey-gold to burnt orange, coppery red, and deep peach. Some rare varieties display chatoyancy (cat’s eye effect) or even asterism (a star-like shine).
Major sources of high-quality Sunstone include India, Norway, Canada, the USA (particularly Oregon), Russia, Tanzania, and Madagascar. Oregon Sunstone, a variety containing native copper inclusions, is particularly prized for its red, green, and rainbow flashes — and is the state gem of Oregon.

Healing with Sunstone
♥ Joy ♥ Empowerment ♥ Creativity ♥ Vitality ♥ Leadership ♥ Confidence ♥ Motivation ♥ Abundance ♥ Self-Worth ♥ Solar Energy ♥ Good Luck
Sunstone is the stone of radiant joy and empowered leadership, glowing with the energy of the midday sun. It encourages independence, enthusiasm, and the sheer pleasure of being alive. Just as the sun sustains all life on Earth, Sunstone revitalises the spirit, recharges depleted energy, and fills the aura with warm, life-affirming light.
It’s an excellent stone for those who tend to give too much of themselves — caregivers, empaths, or people-pleasers — as it restores one’s personal power and helps set healthy boundaries without guilt. Sunstone teaches that you can shine without diminishing the light of others.
This crystal is a beacon of positivity, luck, and good fortune. It’s often used in manifestation practices to draw in success, career opportunities, and financial abundance. Its solar frequency fuels motivation, ambition, and bold action — making it a powerful ally for entrepreneurs, creatives, and anyone working towards personal goals.
Sunstone uplifts the emotional body and banishes shadows of self-doubt, fear, and lethargy. It brings a sense of lightness, playfulness, and optimism — particularly helpful for those struggling with seasonal affective disorder (SAD), depression, or apathy.
It’s especially supportive during times of low confidence or self-worth. Sunstone shines a light on your talents, reminding you of your inherent value and encouraging bold, unapologetic self-expression. It’s a crystal of liberation, helping release feelings of failure, guilt, or emotional dependency.
For those healing from emotional manipulation or narcissistic relationships, Sunstone restores strength and clarity. It aligns you with your inner truth and sovereignty, reawakening passion and creative flow that may have been buried under obligation or fear.
Metaphysically, Sunstone is believed to stimulate metabolism and vitality, making it beneficial for fatigue, chronic stress, and low energy. Its warming energy is thought to support the digestive system, regulate hormones, and strengthen the body’s ability to absorb nutrients.
It’s also associated with reproductive health and sexual vitality, especially for those who feel disconnected from pleasure or intimacy. Some practitioners use it to alleviate aches related to menstrual cycles, boost fertility, or reignite a sense of sensuality and body confidence.
Energetically, Sunstone supports the immune system and enhances the body's ability to recover from illness. It may be placed over the Solar Plexus Chakra to recharge one's energetic field and dispel stagnation, especially after illness, burnout, or emotional depletion.
Spiritually, Sunstone connects to the energy of the sun and the divine masculine — bringing clarity, strength, and expansion. It activates the Solar Plexus and Sacral Chakras, strengthening one’s will and creative fire. In meditation, Sunstone enhances the flow of prana or life-force energy through the body.
It encourages faith in one’s path and purpose, aligning your actions with joy and truth. It is often used in rituals of empowerment, success, or spiritual sovereignty. Some traditions associate Sunstone with solar deities, such as Ra (Egypt), Helios (Greece), or Surya (India), and use it to invoke their guidance and blessing.
In shamanic and ancient healing practices, Sunstone was used as a talisman of protection, honour, and self-mastery. It’s said to ward off negativity, especially jealousy and possessiveness, while helping the wearer radiate charisma and magnetic energy.
