About Turquoise

Turquoise is a striking blue-to-blue-green hydrous phosphate of copper and aluminium with the chemical formula CuAl₆(PO₄)₄(OH)₈·4H₂O. It forms through the slow percolation of acidic water through copper-rich rocks, often resulting in beautiful veining known as a matrix, typically brown, black, or golden, depending on the host rock.

Cherished for millennia, Turquoise is one of the oldest known gemstones, celebrated for its protective and sacred qualities across many cultures. With a Mohs hardness of 5 to 6, it is relatively soft and often stabilised for durability in jewellery.

Turquoise is primarily mined in Iran (Persia), the United States (notably Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico), China, Mexico, Egypt, and Tibet, with Persian and Southwestern US varieties being especially prized for their rich colour and minimal veining.

Healing with Turquoise

♥ Communication ♥ Protection ♥ Peace ♥ Wholeness ♥ Self-Acceptance ♥ Emotional Balance ♥ Ancient Wisdom ♥ Grounded Spirit

Turquoise is a master healer and sacred stone, revered for its ability to unify earth and sky, heart and voice, and body and spirit. Closely associated with the Throat Chakra, it facilitates clear, heartfelt communication, helping you express your truth with confidence and grace.

It is also deeply soothing to the emotions, promoting calm, self-acceptance, and inner balance. Turquoise supports those who tend to overthink or suppress emotions, reminding us that vulnerability is a strength and that our words can heal, protect, and empower.

A powerful protector, Turquoise has long been worn as a talisman against negativity, misfortune, and energetic drain. It’s especially helpful for empaths, travellers, and healers, acting as a stabilising and shielding ally in both energetic and emotional realms.

Energetic & Manifestation Properties

Energetically, Turquoise is a stone of spiritual attunement and soul-aligned communication. It encourages integrity, compassion, and the courage to speak from the heart. This makes it an ideal companion for anyone working in teaching, healing, public speaking, or creative fields, where self-expression is key.

Turquoise can also help manifest emotional healing, inner peace, and connection with higher guidance. It gently clears blocked energy in the throat and heart, allowing love, truth, and wisdom to flow freely through your words and intentions.

In ritual and manifestation practices, Turquoise is often used to strengthen affirmations, encourage forgiveness, or invoke ancestral protection and guidance. It harmonises beautifully with Lapis Lazuli, Chrysocolla, and Moonstone for expanded spiritual insight.

Physical Healing Properties

Turquoise is believed to support the immune system, respiratory health, and detoxification, making it a favourite among crystal healers for those recovering from illness or chronic fatigue. Its calming vibration may help with headaches, inflammation, and throat-related concerns, such as sore throats, laryngitis, or vocal strain.

Because of its close connection to the Throat and Heart Chakras, Turquoise is often used to address stress-induced ailments, especially those affecting the nervous system, thyroid, and lungs. It may also support hormonal balance, aid in nutrient absorption, and ease mood fluctuations caused by emotional suppression.

Turquoise’s energetically grounding and uplifting nature helps bring the body and spirit into harmonious alignment, encouraging overall vitality, clarity, and gentle rejuvenation.
