About Kunzite
Kunzite is a luminous pink-to-lilac variety of spodumene, a lithium aluminium silicate mineral known for its high vibration and heart-centred energy. The delicate colour of Kunzite is due to trace amounts of manganese, and its hue can fade in prolonged sunlight—making it a stone to treat with loving care.
First identified in the early 1900s by gemologist George Frederick Kunz (for whom it is named), Kunzite is mined in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Brazil, Madagascar, and the United States. With a Mohs hardness of 6.5 to 7, Kunzite is somewhat soft compared to other popular gemstones, but its stunning pastel glow more than makes up for its delicate nature.
