Originating from the mountainous regions of New Guinea, the Alocasia wentii is known as the "Hardy Elephant Ear". They are known to be more hardy than other varieties, and can even tolerate the cold weather without dormancy so long as they are in a protected spot.
It has impressive leaves that are arrowhead or shield shaped with large protruding veins running through them which contrasts strongly with the metallic purple leaf. Alocasia wentii bring a real tropical feel once fully grown, with their leaves getting to be 40cm in length!
Light: Alocasia's like bright, indirect light but don't tolerate direct sunlight.
Watering: Frequent watering is required as it likes the soil to be moist and the soil must be well drained. Reduce watering in winter to moderate.
